Learner’s Licence Testing (Class 7)

Learner’s licence testing is available on a walk‑in basis — no appointment required — during our regular operating hours.

• Testing is available Monday to Friday

• Parental consent is required for applicants under 18

• A parent or guardian must accompany the applicant for their first test and provide a valid photo ID

• To obtain a learner's licence (class 7), you must 

• Be 14 years of age or older 

• Pass a vision test 

• Pass a written knowledge test on the rules of the road

Red Deer Registries sells Learner’s Licence Prep Kits in the office, which include flashcards with practice questions and answers to help you prepare.

Road Tests & GDL Information

We can guide you through Alberta’s Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) program and road-testing requirements.

Before booking a road test, we recommend reviewing:

• Driver eligibility requirements for your licence class

• Vehicle eligibility if you’re using your own vehicle

• Road test policies, including cancellation and rescheduling rules

• Road tests can ONLY be booked online or in the office.

Senior discounts:
Drivers aged 65 and older may be eligible for a 25% government discount on road test fees. To receive the discount, booking must be done in person or by phone — not online.
